Live Life Better.
"Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is a quiet voice at the end of the day saying I will try again tomorrow". Mary Anne Radmacher
My own journey of therapy, self-reflection and determination has led me down the path to get my Masters in Social Work and eventually to obtain my license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I am originally from New York, born in the Bronx, and raised in Queens. I attended Fordham University for both my undergraduate degree as well as my Masters in Social Work. San Francisco is now my home, after relocating 20 years ago. I love living, raising my two daughter's and working within such a diverse and vibrant city culture. I enjoy working with people to assist them in reaching their fullest potential. My experience in both clinical work and within organizations, affords me the opportunity to see both the micro and macro view of presenting problems, situations and experiences people face.
In my work with individuals, couples and families, I utilize various therapeutic modalities and consider you as the expert in your life. It's our partnership in working together that we reveal the best solutions to the challenges you are facing.
In my practice, I work with people of all ages and my experience working for over 15 years in skilled nursing and home care has led me to obtain a specialization in dementia care. I became a Certified Alzheimer's Disease and Other Dementia's Treatment Specialist (CADODTS) in 2010. It was this work that inspired me to add a Consultation aspect to my business that assists people or their loved ones navigate the world of aging and elderhood.
I have found that despite the phase of life we are in, in our seemingly never ending pursuit to be better, get better, do better we struggle to find true meaning in our lives. The focus of our work together will be to identify your struggles, areas for improvement, evaluate your goals, find your passions so that you can Live Life Better.
I offer individual, couples, and family counseling. In addition, I provide consultation services for older adults or their loved ones either facing dementia or entering the new phase of elderhood. See a more detailed description about me under the About tab or about the therapy I provide by clicking on Services tab.
SERVICES
I am committed to your well-being and believe that the power lies within you. My role is to help guide and nurture you along your journey.
INDIVIDUAL THERAPY
Together we will uncover what issues, trauma, fears, concerns are holding you back from living your best life. The therapeutic modality will depend on what the issue at hand is but I work from a strengths based perspective that is person-centered. I am a trauma informed therapist who has been trained in Cognitive Behavioral Techniques, Motivational Interviewing and Solution Focused Brief Therapy. I am also a Certified Alzheimer's Disease and Other Dementia's Treatment Specialist (CADODTS).
COUPLES/FAMILY THERAPY
Navigating life can be challenging enough as an individual and often times couples find it hard to negotiate life's challenges together. Having the space to connect, consider each other's experiences and developing skills in communication can lead to a more loving relationship.
Whether you are a couple struggling or a family, we can work collaboratively to create a space for everyone to be heard, to help move beyond the pain and hurt of previous experiences and create a new narrative based in mutual respect and understanding.
CONSULTATION
In my experience working with older adults and their families there are times when certain stressors like a new diagnosis, the need for care outside the home or the need for a transition to a higher level of care lead to a feeling of being completely overwhelmed. I can help by assessing what the needs are and making recommendations and offering resources and solutions while you navigate this new phase of life.
